Right now I am getting ready for a trip across the US to sunny California to San Francisco. I didn’t go to RWA this year because it was too expensive, but then in August my BIL got engaged to his partner. So…we are going out there for the wedding. And yes, we are taking the kids along–their first plan ride. Oh fun. I think that is my biggest worry, keeping the kids occupied. I have them packing their backpacks (that can roll) with toys and activities. I am planning on buying them each a new Leapster game, so I think that may answer the time in the air problem.
While away I won’t be able to post a prompt on my writer journal at http://mariannelacroix.livejournal.com/ Feel free to add your own entry to the excercises already there. I also posted mine for reading pleasure. They are unedited and off the cuff.

I just sold The Dark Knight, an interracial vampire romance novella, to Resplendence Publishing! This novella will be released as an ebook as well as in a medieval themed paperback anthology (no title yet) with pals Kimberly Sullivan and Annmarie Ortega.
Note: The Dark Knight was formerly released as Lord Sancho. This is NOT erotic.

By now most of the epublished world has heard EC (Ellora’s Cave) is looking into selling books by other companies on their site. I don’t see how this helps the already struggling authors whose royalties have been in the toilet for over a year. This does seem to benefit only the corporate members of the company, not their authors (contracted employees). I assume with the current economic crunch, EC is feeling a pinch and is looking to find a way to monopolize the erotic ebook industry. I don’t see this as an attractive set up to places like Samhain or LooseId, but maybe smaller places like Red Rose would be open to it.
My opinion: It isn’t in the EC authors’ interest that this plan go through. The schedule is flooded already with EC books, and competing on the same site now with even more books is not going to help. It is a corporate profit only idea. It will drive away existing authors at EC. EC is not the only epublisher out there.
As for me, I hadn’t given EC anything in over a year. I hadn’t intended to give them anything in the future simply because I am turning away from epublishing. I had my run in ebooks and I am ready to move on. This only solidifies my intent to get out of epublishing.
