Done
The rough draft of Chasing the Shadows is done. Tomorrow begins the editing process. Ah rewrites. Gotta love it. I know I need to add possibly 3 scenes to the book because of stuff I added in the last few chapters. I did the same thing when I wrote Crossed Swords. I wasn’t sure who the villain was until 3/4s of the way through, so I had to go back and expand his character.
I wrote while in the bedroom today. It was the only place I could go to lock out the kids and husband, although the concept of a door closed seems to be lost on all of them. At one point it was every 5 minutes I had an interruption. *sigh*
Then Mittens (my cat) was all psycho and chasing my feet. (I wasn’t actually in bed, just on it.) She was bouncing all over the room. And when she wants attention (when not chasing my feet), she walks on my keyboard. Nice. At one point she was laying on my scene cards, turning the pages to my CtS moleskin notebook, and chasing the string on my cards folder. Ugh. But it broke the time with some laughs.
I will be glad when this book is out the door. I plan on taking a week to spring clean my house. I’ve been so not in cleaning mode, so my house looks a mess. Add in the depression giving me 0 motivation to clean (’cause I didn’t care), and you know my house needs a good once over.
Thanks to all the people who helped me through my personal hell as well as finishing the draft of the book from hell. Special thanks goes to Annmarie for not letting me quit, even when I cried to her on the phone. [She even posted on her blog tonight about my finishing the draft.] And thanks to Devyn for telling me how she suffered over a book and cried, and then was determined to finish so all those spent emotions weren’t in vain. It was brilliant.
