Tied up with the Book from Hell–Update
I’m still working on my WIP, struggling actually. Struggling terrible. I feel like the woman in the picture–bound and helpless. At least the chick in the pic has someone doing the tying to be all kinky. I’m not so lucky. (Er, not that I would let any man tie me up physically. It would definitely be the other way around…oh yeah.)
Then again I’ve had a history of getting involved with men who tie me up emotionally. Personally, it is worse than any physical rope. You can’t heal from those wounds as easily as red marks upon the skin. And sometimes, you never heal.
(Hmm, can you tell I am down tonight? It’s the book doing it to me. I really don’t want to work on it. Seriously.)
Anyway, I am taking time off the blog to write. This means no posting. I invite you to check out The Writer Chicks and Annmarie’s blog in case you are in need of some laughs. Think of me over the next week as I try to finish the “book from hell”.
Here's an unedited excerpt from my WIP where the hero, Daniel, is about to take control...
“Do you trust me?” Daniel breathed against her ear.
Goosebumps rose along her forearms. “Yes,” she whispered.
He kissed her earlobe, and she inhaled sharply.
“Tonight is about trust,” he said. “Trusting me.” He kissed the side of her neck, and she shivered.
“I trust you,” she said in a low voice.
“Do you…really? Can you submit all control to me? Can you truly trust me?”
She had no idea how this came about, but he was turning her on. She hesitated, unsure if this was such a good idea. Give up control?
“Surrender to me, Brooke.” His warm breath tickled her ear and her body reacted.
Her pulse skipped and her breath hitched. Dear God, what was he doing to her? She couldn’t resist him for long, and at the moment, she wasn’t sure she wanted to.
But then to her surprise she exhaled a gentle plea, “Please.”
“Good girl,” he said in a low, husky voice. “Now close your eyes.”
Excited and curious, she obeyed without question. Then a cold whisper of fabric caressed her neck. She gasped softly.
“This is to make sure you keep your eyes closed.” He lifted the silky cloth over her eyes and tied it securely behind her head.
Blindfolded. Instantly she seemed more aware of his closeness behind her.
“Don’t be afraid. If at any time you want to stop, you just have to tell me.”
“No,” she breathed. “Don’t stop.”
“I haven’t even begun, sweetheart.”

Trying to get this book DONE

Going to write today. (Not sure if I am going anywhere to write, just that I AM going to write.) Trying to get the book done before Xmas.
So…my mind is on writing and my current scene along with the next upcoming scene (see this TWC post for a clue). Sooo…if you don’t see many posts from me over the next few days, you know why.

Too tired tonight
Vote for my kitten Mittens on the Progressive.com website as “Pet of the Week”: http://www.progressive.com/petphotos/pet-image.aspx?id=8860
Tonight we took the kids to their school’s “Jingle Bell Run/Walk”. Well, I didn’t run, but I did help untangle bags of bell necklaces to hand out to everyone. We stayed to watch the tree lighting too. They put a nice big tree on the roof of the new school building. Very pretty.
I really don’t have much to post tonight. Sitting here watching Mittens go to town on a new scratching post I got her. She is so spoiled. Mommy’s baby. She makes me laugh.
Kinda tired tonight. Too tired to be clever.

I heard a boom

Pretty sure someone’s head about exploded this weekend while surfing my blog. But you know, I don’t regret saying what needed to be said. Even if he doesn’t agree.
I am a published author with a reputation of getting to the heart of crapola. I’m well respected. I’ve been president of a RWA chapter for over a year and have just been re-elected because I am respected and trusted. I founded that chapter when no one would step up and do it for years and years. In addition, I’ve just been elected as the new Member-At-Large board member of one of the largest RWA chapters (with close to 300 members). I am not without some sort of professional standing to back up my reputation as a hard worker who doesn’t want to sit back and let the world steamroll over me. Or my friends.
Oh by the way, I don’t do “keep a low profile”. Watch me if you will, but don’t expect me to fade into the background. I am a strong willed woman and if I tried to be anything other than that, it would be a lie. I try to be as open and honest as I can be, which may mean some won’t like what I have to say. I am fine with the concept of “agree to disagree”. It is a damn shame others aren’t so wise in that concept.

Beginning to look a lot like Christmas…
Got the tree up today. My arms are all scratched from reaching through the branches to “fluff” them up. Prelit tree…easy set up. The fluffing takes the longest. I remember when I worked in a major department store’s Christmas shop and we started setting up in September. One of the things I did was set up the trees, which meant putting on lights. I took a string of lights and would wrap them around the branches. I’m talking EACH branch. This is before prelit trees. Took all day to do a tree and a half.
Husband celebrated the coming of Sinterklaas with the kids as it is Dec 6th, Saint Nicholas Day, and in Holland, that is when Sinterklaas comes giving gifts. (Husband is Dutch BTW.) So, Sinterklaas comes and leaves presents in the kids’ shoes. (Yes, husband is from Holland originally. His first language is Dutch. I don’t know the language, but I can loosely follow a conversation most of the time.) It is a teaser for the big day later this month.
We did a family day today. Good way to celebrate St. Nicholas Day by putting up the tree, having grandma come over, watching the Muppets’ Christmas Carol, etc.
“Light the lamp, not the rat! Light the lamp, not the rat!”
I love Michael Caine as Scrooge. He is so awesome. An actor that can act opposite Gonzo is extraordinary.
And I love Gonzo and Rizzo the Rat.
