RWA, ebooks & RITAs

I posted over at TheWriterChicks.com today about my thougts of the RWA and the lack of the erotic romance category in the RITAs and Golden Heart: post here. It is in response to the Dear Author post here.

I support the RWA and their mission to assist in the advance of the romance genre. I am president of a RWA chapter and I believe we can readjust the categories as well as allow epublished works to be entered in the RITAs.

Oh Fabio

This IS the funniest damn thing I’ve seen in a long time. It proves my thought that Fabio is nice to look at (back in the 80s when I was a kid) and that he should not talk.

Send Me Healing Thoughts

Yeah, I really had a bad week. After my last report, I went to my doctor’s office as soon as he opened and pleaded to get relief. I was in such pain. He admitted me immediately to the hospital where I was on a morphine pump for 2 days. He hoped the pain would be controllable, but it wasn’t, which is why I was on morphine for 2 days. The third day I had surgery. Yes, I had a cyst but oh so much more. Ligaments and scar tissue were pulling my ovary, thus twisting it. I had one of my ovaries and a fallopian tube removed. I am home now, and sore. I am sore from the surgery, but no pain in the area where I wanted to die.

Oh, and I lost my job when I called to tell them I was having surgery. I kept them abreast of everything throughout this fiasco, yet I got “let go” because of my absence. And the kicker, she let me go while I was in the hospital about to have surgery. Nice, huh? As if I was faking this crap to stay out of work… Geez.

So, I am back to being an at home writer. Good thing, I have a book to finish anyway.

Ovarian Cysts

About midnight last night, the pain came back. I went to bed and did fall into a restless doze until 1am. I was abruptly awoken with sharp pain to my left lower abdomen. I writhed and screamed. I thought I was dying. After an hour of agony, I decided to go to the ER. My hopes? To get some pain medicine. So, hubby gathers up the kids and he takes me to the ER. I officially check in at 2:10am. And I sat. Sweat poured down my back as the pain continued. I took 2 Darvocet before I left for the ER, but no sign of it kicking in. After waiting an hour, I send hubby home with the kids. I’d rather call him when I’m done than have them all hang out in the waiting room. About 5am, the pain began to decrease a little. I continued to wait. I was called back to a room at 6:10am. Yep 4 hours later. The doctor sees me for about 5 minutes, basically dismissing me as having a history of ovarian cysts. Yeah, and? Nothing. I have a history, so why am I there? Okay, just shoot me. Excruciating pain is not a reason to go to the ER when they actually know it is a cyst. I was released at 7:20am with a prescription and told to contact my GYN. With no sleep and still in some pain, I had to call out of work. (Oh, should I mention the kids are home from school due to a teacher work day? And that my mom called me while I was in the ER saying she was ill and couldn’t watch them?)

When will it end?

Nectar of the Gods gets 4 Hearts from LR&M

Nectar of the Gods, an anthology from Total E Bound which includes stories by Ashlyn Chase, Annmarie Ortega, Isabelle Drake, Sascha Illyvich, and myself. It got 4 hearts from Love Romances and More.

Here’s some of the review regarding my novella, Warrior Lover:

“First up was Warrior Lover by Marianne LaCroix which kicks off this fabulous anthology full of gods/goddesses, mortals and historical events that play over the pages of NECTOR OF THE GODS. In Warrior Lover, we meet Ares, God of War who doesn’t believe that he needs to love. A “love’em & leave ‘em” type, he shuns the soft emotions of love…that is until one cool night he meets the woman who has the face of a goddess and a warrior’s heart. It’s 1944 and the day before D-Day and Ares is deep in the fight for peace in WWII. When he lays eyes on Belle, a French Resistance fighter, he loses his cool and finds himself falling for the one woman who keeps him on his toes. Will Ares be able to let the one woman find her destiny or will he keep her locked up, safe from all harm in a gilded cage?

Oh my, this was one very hot beginning to the NECTOR OF THE
GODS
anthology. Ms. LaCroix delves right into war, love and the way the gods/goddesses play with mortals right off the bat. With the right amount of passion, adrenaline and purpose, she delivers a story that will keep you reading even after the story is done. I really enjoyed the way Belle went toe to toe with Ares over his highhandedness and the characters really come alive in Warrior Lover. Ms. LaCroix does a fabulous job capturing her characters and the way she made the setting of the story come alive made me feel like I was there beside them. This was a very satisfying start to the anthology.”

Update

I have an update. I don’t need a hysterectomy! Yay for that. I do have a uterine infection though. Pretty bad one. I’m on 2 heavy duty antibiotics at the moment. I’m in pain still, but at least now we know what it is definitely that is causing me such pain. Of course, HOW I got the infection is a mystery. I guess the how isn’t as important as the what was causing my problems. The important thing is I’m getting treated for the infection and I should be up and back to normal soon.
