Friend JC Wilder is battling another author friend, Ann Jacobs, over the RT models and the inner EC loops. Oh my. The opinions of other EC authors are flying left and right. Have I commented? No.

Unfortunately, I can’t comment on the models’ behavior at RT. I left the party early for a date with a king size bed all to myself. I really didn’t care for the EC models in general. It wasn’t like Brooks was a apart of that group this year. (They change the models yearly, it seems.)

The banning of JC from the loops thing is wrong. I know, been in a similar situation myself a time or two. If a pub keeps your books on sale, an author does have a right to remain on the author loops. At least that is my opinion. There is always the moderation function in YahooGroups. I know she is involved with Samhain, but still. They still have her books at EC.

Read the discussion over at Karen’s at http://karenknowsbest.com/?p=1157

My current status at EC? Well, I haven’t given them any new books since August of last year, and I have no immediate plans of any submissions. I am trying to get into Harlequin at this point, and that is my focus. I just got my first single author print book at EC in March and I have been there for well over 2 years (3 years in August). There are 400+ authors at EC and more coming in all the time. It is really hard to shine and break away from the crowd. I am indeed a tiny fish with growing pains in a vastly populated pond.

Thomasville Rose FestivalNo kidding, I am going to be walking in a parade this evening in the Thomasville “Rose Bud” parade. My kids are walking for their school, so I am along for the stroll down Broad Street. It is a big deal in this little town and people go all out (read: insane) for stuff like this. I am not looking forward to it beyond getting some exercise.

I have to get back to living better and losing weight. I really had no idea I gained so much. So, back to walking for me. I do have a treadmill, so tomorrow, I am starting back on doing my time. I would start today, but I am walking tonight in the parade. Back to walking and drinking water.

I am at work on my Blaze. I started yesterday, but decided the book needs to start earlier. I saved the scene I wrote as it will be perfect for later in the book. I am excited about the project, something I specifically have written for Harlequin. Yeah, I subbed prior to this, but not Blaze. I think my voice will fit the line nicely. I particularly like the Blush books, Blazes with humor. Mine will definitely have humor. And a cowboy.

Captain’s log: Sunday, April 20, 2008

The day of departure. Damn it.

I was so sad to see the fun end. I never laughed so much in 4 days. My partner in crime, Annmarie Ortega, was going on back to Chicago and I was off back to Valdosta, Georgia. We anxiously await the next RT as we made some promo plans that are friggin’ brilliant.

We went on down to the restaurant and got breakfast. The buffet wasn’t spectacular, but it was better Sunday than it was Thursday. At least the eggs were hot. We would have met Chris Howell for breakfast like we did last year, but he had a flight to Houston at like 6am. Oh dear lord, never get an early flight from RT. You will be lucky if you can remain conscious to go through security.

At the airport, Annmarie and I got back together and talked about RT 2009 in Orlando. We are so there. I can drive that time as it is about 5 hours from my house. I believe some friends from FCRW will also be there in 2009 like Elizabeth Sinclair, Dolores Wilson, Tara Greenbaum, Eileen Ann Brennan and Tierney Linn. It will be rockin’.

After Annmarie and I parted ways, and I had a toy for my twin 6 year old girls, I headed to my terminal. Then my Brooks radar went off. *grin* I feel like a wolf, but he cuts a fine figure in a black tee shirt. Admiring from afar, I settled in to wait. I saw Marc Johnson and Andrei Claude go on to their flights. *sigh* Everyone was off to go home.

I flew to Atlanta and then on to a puddle jumper to Valdosta. I was met by my husband, Mark, and my girls–who were…what the hell were they wearing? They looked like Redneck children in too small pj bottoms and mismatching shirts. One shirt had a hole in it. What in the world? My husband proclaims they dressed themselves. Ya think? Nothing like discovering your husband has no sense of fashion…or much of anything to do with clothes… At least they were fed and seemed happy. I am definitely needed at home or the bunch of them would be walking around fulfilling the image of pure blood Redneck hicks.
